Jayce Doan works with his parents, brothers and wife to raise cattle and bison, as well as cover crops and other crops, on Black Leg Ranch near McKenzie, N.D.
Jayce graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Animal Science in 2016 and returned to the ranch that was started by Jayce's Great, Great Grandfather in 1882.
The multifaceted operation sustains several enterprises including cow-calf, yearling cattle, custom grazing, buffalo, cover crops, Rolling Plains Adventures; a hunting outfitting business, Black Leg Events; an agri-tourism business, Black Leg Brewery, and Black Leg Meats; offering grass finished beef and buffalo under the Audubon Conservation Bird Friendly Program.
Jayce along with his dad and two brother have continued education in holistic management through trainings and workshops and embrace the principles across all enterprises and management decisions. Jayce is committed to regenerating the natural resources to capture and store carbon, build diversity, sustain the wildlife and provide healthy food products to promote good human health.
He looks forward to bringing a young producer's perspective and helping others starting in holistic management and regenerative agriculture.
